Our Story

At Curves and Brushes, our story is one rooted in a deep personal connection to skincare and a profound commitment to celebrating the beauty of the African skin. From a young age, our founder has been discerning about skincare, a trait shaped by past experiences that fueled a passion for crafting products with intention and authenticity.

The pivotal moment came when a relocation to Ghana revealed the challenges of accessing preferred skincare products. Faced with inflated prices and logistical hurdles, the journey began to discover local alternatives that would embrace the rich natural resources abundant in Africa.

This exploration uncovered a startling reality — a market flooded with inferior foreign products falsely marketed as “natural.” Determined to bridge the gap, we set out to create authentic skincare solutions designed specifically for the African skin, respecting its unique needs, especially in the face of the harsh African sun.

Most of our products have been made for many centuries using ancient recipes, beauty rituals and methods passed down from generation to generation. We adapt the secret classic formulas by incorporating new technologies and modern day actives to boost the safety and efficacy of our products in solving issues faced by modern day beauty. Curves and Brushes is woman led and our locally sourced sheabutter is provided by hardworking women co-ops in Ghana.

Over 60% of our lush beauty formulations are made from potent natural African botanicals ethically sourced from farmers and women co-ops all over Africa and the rest of the world at fair trade premiums. Our local raw material processing activities empower hundreds of Ghanaian women in rural communities and local businesses throughout our supply chain by providing income and access to new markets for their output. In other words, each jar from us is a source of hope to the many communities producing our raw materials and our employees.

Our love for all things Africa pushes us to explore different ingredient combination to develop proprietary blends that deliver superior nourishment for flawless glowing skin

Rejuvenate your skin with the healing, antioxidant-rich and nurturing properties of African botanicals handcrafted from the rich soils of Africa. All products are made by hand and sent from our factory in Ghana to you.

Sustainable beauty

Our packaging is chosen to preserve and maintain the integrity of our products. We intend to fully transition to 100% compostable packaging by 2035. For now, we encourage refills and give discount points towards future purchases for every bottle or jar returned. All of our packaging include clear recycling instructions. Lastly, consumers also have the option of ordering their bar soaps totally naked from our online store. Giving back to nature is at the heart of our environmental sustainability initiative, this will include replanting an infant tree seedling back into the wild for every purchase made at the end of each year.
